ARTERIAL DUPLEX EXAMS
Arterial duplex ultrasounds are used to detect and monitor peripheral arterial disease (hardening of the arteries). This type of ultrasound can be used for both the upper extremities and the lower extremities. During this exam, ultrasound is used to measure blood flow in your arteries and detect any blockages.
During this exam, the sonographer will also perform an ankle-brachial index (ABI). This compares the blood pressure in your arms and legs, and can be an indicator of peripheral artery disease.
At Vascular Surgical Associates, arterial duplex exams are performed by our skilled registered vascular technologists in our accredited Vascular Lab.
