After a long battle with Peripheral artery disease, and many procedures, Eric made the difficult decision to have a below-knee amputation. After meeting Chad Smith, a VSA Prosthetics peer advisor, he felt the urge to pay it forward. He became an Assistant Peer Advisor volunteer. He meets with new and prior amputees, giving emotional, educational, and encouraging support. He has a passion for helping others. He gives his personal experiences about the trials and ordeals one faces as an amputee. He gives them hope and inspiration, that they too can overcome the physical and mental obstacles they encounter. Eric also participates in our quarterly Amputee Care Group Meetings.
