Conditions and Treatments

Vascular Specialists in Metro Atlanta

At Vascular Surgical Associates, we strive to provide expert diagnosis and care for your vascular condition.

At our nine office locations, we treat the following conditions:

  • Aortic aneurysm: An aneurysm is a localized enlargement of an artery, occurring most often in the aorta. This is caused by weakening of the artery wall. This can be diagnosed by ultrasound in our office. At Vascular Surgical Associates, we can provide effective treatments for aneurysms including endograft repair or aortobifemoral bypass surgery
  • Carotid artery disease: The carotid arteries supply blood to the brain and face. Carotid artery stenosis (caused by hardening of the arteries) is a risk factor for stroke. The severity of carotid artery stenosis can be determined by ultrasound in our office. By treating carotid artery disease, you will be taking action to prevent a stroke. The treatment options we offer include stenting, endarterectomy, and medical therapy.
  • Peripheral artery disease (PAD): This is a common vascular problem. PAD is the progressive narrowing of arteries. This results in decreased blood flow to extremities. This can be diagnosed by using ultrasound, and our surgeons can recommend appropriate medical treatment or surgical intervention.
  • Renal artery disease: Renal artery stenosis is the narrowing of the artery which supplies blood to the kidneys. This can cause high blood pressure and possibly kidney failure.
  • Mesenteric disease: Mesenteric artery disease is a vascular disorder which the arteries that supply blood to the intestines become narrowed. This can cause abdominal pain after eating.
  • Peripheral aneurysms: These are aneurysms that affect arteries other than the aorta. The legs are a common place to experience a peripheral aneurysm. We can offer you treatment options that include medication, stent grafts or surgical bypass.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT): This is the condition when a blood clot forms in one or more veins in your body, such as the legs. It is common if you have a medical condition that affects how your blood clots. This requires prompt diagnosis and treatment.
  • Venous disease: There are many types of venous diseases, including varicose veins and venous insufficiency. Symptoms include leg swelling, leg pain, spider veins and bulging veins.
  • Dialysis access management: Our vascular surgeons are highly skilled in creating and maintaining permanent dialysis accesses. We monitor AV-grafts and AV-fistulas regularly to ensure proper functioning to allow for adequate dialysis.
